Race Background:
The Lafarge Zebra Zamba, held annually on the first weekend of March, is the only road race event held in Lichtenburg which is registered with Athletics South Africa and where participants’ finishing times are officially recorded and recognized. Athletes are attracted from mainly North West province, Gauteng and the Free State but also as far as Gaborone and Port Shepstone to this unique race, which follows a circular route through the Lichtenburg Biodiversity Conservation Centre that houses and breeds many endangered species including white rhino, Pere David's deer, Cape mountain zebra, scimitar-horned oryx and Arabian oryx.

This year we decided to make is a festive weekend together with the local Water Fest that is been held for the first time in 20 years. There will be a variety of events together with the Marathon.

The Lafarge Zebra Zamba includes a 32km and 10km route as well as a 5km fun run for those who wants a shorter, less strenuous experience. The race will start and end at the Lichtenburg Boat Club grounds in on the corners of Church and Eeufees Street and as said before is a circular route winding through Lichtenburg Biodiversity Conservation Centre.
